One tech team.
A portfolio of specialist
travel brands. A whole lot to build.
We're Travelopia — over 2,000 colleagues around the world, running a portfolio of specialist travel brands that includes Quark Expeditions in the polar regions, TCS World Travel by private jet, Kalos Golf, Sunsail, The Moorings, Leopard Catamarans and Le Boat on the water, Exodus Adventure Travels, Enchanting Travels, Hayes & Jarvis, Europe Express, YMT Vacations and Experience Education. Our technology group is what lets us operate as one company instead of running each brand on its own stack.

Where technology sits
Technology is a central group function, not a per-brand IT department. We partner with every business unit through a Brand Technology Partner model — the same engineering organisation supports every brand in the portfolio, which means the things we build compound across the group rather than getting rebuilt brand by brand.
It also means we sit at the table when brands plan their growth. The framing we use internally is that enterprise tech evolves from the back seat, to the front seat, to the driver's seat. We're somewhere between the front and the driver's seat — close enough to commercial strategy that the work matters, far enough from the spreadsheet that we still get to build.
The work
What we build
Roughly four things, all in active development. Running across all of it: an active programme of decommissioning legacy systems and replacing them with modern cloud services — SaaS where the value is generic, bespoke builds where we want to own the IP.
Ways of working
How we work
-
01
Squads, not silosDelivery happens in cross-functional squads with three clear leadership roles: a Product Lead who owns the outcome, an Engineering Lead who owns the solution, and a Delivery Lead who owns the plan. Engineers, QA, data engineers, web engineers, DevOps and business analysts sit inside the squad.
-
02
Outcomes over outputWe measure squads on the business problem they solve, not the tickets they close. The same discipline applies to the leadership team — we run retrospectives on ourselves too.
-
03
AI inside the SDLCGenAI is embedded in how we code, test, document and support. We've set guardrails for safe use and we expect everyone to get fluent with the tools — it's a default, not a perk.
-
04
Secure by defaultInformation security is a peer to engineering, not a checkpoint at the end. Secure pipelines, least-privilege access, threat modelling on new builds.
-
05
Hybrid and globalTravelopia colleagues are spread across many countries, with hubs that work asynchronously by design. A laptop, a browser and an internet connection is the stack.
Collaboration
Who you'd work with
Tech here isn't isolated. On any given week an engineer might be sitting with:
- Product and brand teams shaping what gets built next
- Sales teams on the tools, data and integrations that help them convert and serve customers
- Marketing on campaign effectiveness, lead generation, personalisation
- Commercial and finance on forecasting, pricing and KPI dashboards
- Information security on access, lineage and governance
- Senior leadership through the Brand Technology Partners, when investment cases and roadmaps get set
If you've worked somewhere tech is treated as the order-takers, this isn't that.
Culture
What we value
- Modern, secure, cloud-based. No exceptions, no nostalgia.
- Own the IP that matters, buy the rest. We don't rebuild commodity software.
- Hire well, keep people. We invest in growth over churn.
- Lean at scale. We'd rather be small and sharp than large and slow.
- Bold, in a grown-up way. We try things. We also ship them.
